Jefferson County and Wisconsin Broadband Office Need Survey Data for Expansion

Jefferson, Wis. – Jefferson County and the Wisconsin Broadband Office, to better understand network performance, are encouraging all households to take the Wisconsin Internet Self-Report (WISER) survey.

This information will help shape the state’s and Jefferson County’s internet planning efforts. WISER is an online survey with a speed test. It is designed to capture the complexity of residents’ experience with internet service or lack thereof (e.g., service quality, cost burden, and more). Through this collaborative effort with all Wisconsin residents, the state and county will be able to further improve internet access and understand associated costs. The survey will assist in locating areas where internet is unavailable, unreliable, and/or unaffordable. WISER is confidential and the number of responses will be visualized in an online mapping tool. “Wisconsin is set to receive $1 billion or more in broadband grants, and this information will position Jefferson County to get better and more targeted expansion,” said Jefferson County Administrator Ben Wehmeier. “This confidential survey is an important tool that I encourage everyone to spend a few minutes filling out.” The WISER survey is available online at
